Energy Data Scientist (PhD)

At Bamboo Energy, we’re a group of people who aims to accelerate energy transition through demand aggregation and for that purpose, we have developed a software platform that allows consumers to reduce their electricity bill and receive incomes by helping a major integration of renewables in the energy system.

Bamboo Energy is a deep-tech startup born in Barcelona two years ago, we are a spin-off of IREC (Catalan Energy Research Institute). Our platform relies on artificial intelligence and advanced mathematical models to allow the optimal management of demand flexibility.

About the Role

As Energy Data Scientist you will join the Technology Development team. Data underpins everything we do at Bamboo and we’re looking for someone who is comfortable working on a variety of forecast and data intelligence problems. You’ll be working closely with our developers to build and deploy solutions directly for our products. You will discuss with the CTO and the product owner on how our platform could perform better, we are passionate about problem-solving and providing data-informed insights to our customers and colleagues.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Build a deep understanding of how to forecast demand flexibility, improve current forecasting algorithms, and identify the metrics to evaluate these improvements.
• Develop new features and modules based on data analysis for new products under development.
• Lead a team of junior data scientists and data engineers.
• Coordinate with the Head of Technology, the Product Owner and the R&D Manager to develop and implement Bamboo product roadmap.
• Design own analytics and tracking plans from metric definition to ongoing reporting. Establish dashboards that serve as the primary source to evaluate the performance of the modules.
• Own your analytics projects, proactively identify issues and opportunities, test hypotheses, and propose solutions.
• Collaborate with groups company-wide (e.g. business development, customer success) on KPIs.
